- The image uploader notes that they are not sure if this image is public domain because it was created by the Lake Mary Police Department in the course of performance of their duties. My guess is not, but I am hoping someone with more experience on this can be definitive. Thanks! VQuakr (talk) 00:12, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- Florida is public domain see [1]. -- Green Cardamom (talk) 01:43, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- Does that extend to municipal entities such as a police department? VQuakr (talk) 02:02, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- A small town like Lake Mary will be a creature of statute, that is a creature of state law, and unless there is some evidence otherwise it should be assumed they follow the same law as the state. I looked into the town website, and there is nothing there about copyright. There are other muni images using PD-FLGov on Commons. -- Green Cardamom (talk) 02:31, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

- Note: I've uploaded this file to commons now at File:Zimmerman detained by police after a domestic dispute.jpg. TMCk (talk) 19:37, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was: Kept as PD-shape. Note the image is tagged as Keep Local, so I am not deleting as F8. Diannaa (talk) 20:13, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
- File:Google-Wallet-logo.svg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- I am not sure this is below TOO Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:55, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- Keep, but not free I agree this does meet the CoO and is non-free, but it should be kept just like the rest of our non-free logos are. Jackmcbarn (talk) 22:03, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- I've added a FUR -- 70.24.249.39 (talk) 23:13, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- You left all of the PD stuff there. Can you clean it up all the way? Thanks, Jackmcbarn (talk) 00:16, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- {{PD-textlogo}} has been removed (which is all the "PD" stuff) -- 70.24.249.39 (talk) 06:41, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

- Comment Very odd to go changing the licensing around while this discussion is still in progress. As far as the concern itself, I find it odd that coloring the individual strokes of a letter W would be considered "original" while File:Best Western logo.svg isn't "original". But I really don't care, it just means I'm that much less likely to bother with images in the future. Anomie⚔ 14:51, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. You are right about tag change. It is silly to have a tag saying "This file has been listed on Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files" while the file is already tagged as certainly unfree. So, I contested the change with a revert.
- Also, you are right about your TOO judgment. I agreed below. I think the person who moved this file to Commons also agrees. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 23:36, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Note that there is a separate discussion about the same thing at Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Google Wallet logo.svg. --Stefan2 (talk) 14:57, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Note: This image is currently tagged as non-free. If there is a dispute with the rationale, please tag the image with {{dfu}} or list it at WP:Non-free content review. AnomieBOT⚡ 22:07, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Keep as free. Here the result of my analysis:
- Image: Looks like entirely letters: A big stylized W and a wordmark. The W is colorized with plain colors. Calligraphy is no eligible for copyright protection.
- Code: The SVG code seems entirely machine-generated. While the program that generated the code is eligible for copyright-protection, the code itself is not. If it had a human-written portion, it would have been the property of the coder. Text needs no fonts.
- Recommendation: Retain local copy until the Commons discussion ends; then move to Commons.
- Best regards,
- Codename Lisa (talk) 00:28, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Notice: Hi. Just a notice: Commons deletion request ended and the image was kept as free. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 02:33, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
